Dominic: And which airport are we flying to?
Amelia:
Christchurch. Look. I’ll show you on the map. Christchurch is in the South Island. We’re staying there for two nights in a backpackers’ hostel, then we’re going to the Southern Alps.
Dominic:
The Alps?
Amelia:
Yes- the mountains in New Zealand are called the Alps, too. They’re called the Southern Alps and they’re in the South Island.
Dominic:
Brilliant. I’m really looking forward to this holiday! I’m going to take loads of photos.
Amelia:
Me, too! It’ll be amazing. Remember, we’re going to be busy, though. We’re going hiking and mountain biking around Aoraki.
Dominic:
Aoraki?
Amelia:
Yes- it’s the highest mountain in New Zealand. It’s also called Mount Cook.
Dominic:
Oh… so are we camping in the mountains?
Amelia:
No, we aren’t. Look at this… we’re staying in this hotel- right next to Aoraki.
Dominic:
Ah- it looks awesome. So are we going rock climbing too?
Amelia:
Um, I don’t know. Let’s decide that one when we’re there.
Dominic:
How long are we staying there?
Amelia:
A week. Then we’re going to Queenstown- and Kawarua Bridge!
Dominic:
Hey! For the bungee jumping! I remembered that part!
Amelia:
Are you sure you still want to do it?
Dominic:
Of course! New Zealand’s famous for bungee jumping, and that’s the most famous bungee jump in the world! What about you?
Amelia: You’re joking! I’m not going to do it! I’ll watch you.
Dominic:
Hmm- we’ll see! So when are we flying home?
Amelia:
Hold on! I’ll just check… Hmm … We’re staying in Queenstown for four nights after the bungee jump. There’s a lot to see and do in Queenstown and the nightlife is brilliant. Then it’s back to Christchurch for two nights. And we’re going home on … er … the twenty-fifth of October.
